POSITION PURPOSE: Provide leadership, coordination, and support for agency's Homeless Family Services (HFS) programs. Assist in ensuring that program grant outcomes are met. Foster an environment of mutual trust and cooperation within the HFS team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

   I.   Program Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all direct case management services to families participating in family services programs.
  • Ensure that staff uses the empathy model with consumer interactions.
  • Assist with providing leadership and development, coordination, and facilitation for education and support groups.  
  • Coordinate student field placement and provide direct supervision to student interns in the HFS program.
  • Assure that all program and services development reflects agency's commitments to diversity, equity, and multi-cultural competence.
  • Assist in the recruitment and hiring of new staff as needed.

   II.   Program Support 

  • Plan, facilitate and coordinate regular Family Services Team meetings.

  • Facilitate additional training and education for family services staff and volunteers.

  • Ensure appropriate orientation of all staff, students, and volunteers involved with HFS.

  • Assure timely development and completion of staff performance plans, reviews and evaluations.

  • Assure that all staff develops necessary skills, knowledge, and sensitivities for effectiveness in diversity and multi-cultural competence.

  • Participate in agency wide orientation and training as assigned.

   III. Washtenaw Homeless Management Information System (HMIS)

  • Ensure that staff enters program participant records in HMIS in real time, accurately and completely
  • Ensure that all consumer and program data files are updated and maintained in HMIS
  • Hold staff accountable for correcting errors discovered by data entry audits
  • Produce reports as needed
  • Ensure that staff is scheduled for HMIS training when needed
  • Participate in Service Point training sessions and meetings as needed

     IV. Community Responsibilities

  • Represent SOS at relevant community meetings and events.
  • Act jointly with the Development Team in supporting and carrying out all agency-related community outreach functions.

AGENCY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Actively support the SOS commitment to diversity in all areas and responsibilities
  2. Uphold and ensure appropriate enforcement of all agency policies and practices
  3. Participate in community relations and outreach tasks as directed and required

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

MSW, plus 2 years' post MSW relevant experience.  Supervisory experience preferred. Previous experience in working with diverse populations, homeless families, families experiencing disorganization and chaos, and/or families living in poverty is essential. Demonstrated skills in program development, program management, and data tracking required.  Crisis intervention, group services, and other therapeutic interventions are desirable. Strong writing and verbal skills.  Commitment to vulnerable populations.  Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and data management desired. Maintain compliance with the Substance Free Work Place Act, the Privacy Act and Federal, State, and local laws regarding professional standards of conduct.  Possession of Michigan Driver's License in good standing that meets agency insurance standards is essential. Willingness to obtain a Michigan Chauffeur's License, to make home visits, and access to own transportation on a regular basis is required.
