Utility Assistance

• Financial assistance is available for utility bills (gas, electricity, water) ONLY if a person has Section 8 or Subsidized housing.
• Washtenaw County residents are allowed to use this service once every 12 months.
• Consumers may begin the utility assistance process by phone, but must come to the SOS Crisis Center to complete it.
• Utility assistance depends upon availability of funds.

Transportation Assistance

SOS offers pop bottle/can distribution as available. Emergency transportation assistance is available only for transportation to emergency shelter. Transportation assistance is dependent upon availability of funds.

Referrals to Other Resources

• If SOS is unable to provide services for a consumer, he or she is given information about additional community resources, including a list of area shelters, food/clothing distribution sites and area housing options.
• Referrals are available during walk-in hours.
