We have a variety of volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Please review the options below, and if you are interested or need more information contact (734) 961-1210, email , or complete this form.
Program Area: Crisis Services
- Food Counselor: Help families access emergency food on Tuesdays. Volunteers do one-on-one counseling with walk-in community members in need of emergency food, personal care items, or referrals to other resources. Position requires a 20-hour training.
- Greeter: Assist families with accessing case management services, as well as assisting with completion of documentation requirements for financial assistance. Position requires a 20-hour training.
Program Area: Children's Services
- After-School Tutor: Help homeless children improve academically and help them with their homework. You will be paired with a student between grades 1 – 8.
- Telling It Kids Volunteer: Assist children, ages 6-9, improve their literacy skills and engage in creative art projects. Work one-on-one with a child on Tuesdays at 3:30 pm. Required 2 hour training.
- Telling It Remix: Help children, ages 9 -12, improve their literacy skills and engage in creative art projects. Work one-on-one with a child on Mondays at 3:30 pm. Required 2 hour training.

Time for Tots Assistant: The therapeutic daycare program for children, ages 0-5, need volunteers to assist in overseeing kids in day-to-day activities.
- Transportation Assistant: Help ensure a safe ride for homeless children from our daycare facility. To fulfil a requirement by law, we need assistants to help monitor kids on the bus.
Administration Office
- Event Planner: Work with staff to plan and organize upcoming events.
- Receptionist: Help answer phones and greet consumers at the Housing Crisis Center.
