What is the Housing Access for Washtenaw County?

The Housing Access for Washtenaw County is the single point of entry for all shelters in the county. Any resident in Washtenaw County experiencing a housing emergency can call the Housing Access Line at (734) 961-1999.

 

What services are provided at the Housing Access Center?

The Housing team provides assistance for people experiencing housing difficulties. People can receive food, personal care items, short-term crisis counseling, and connections to community resources. Limited financial assistance for housing needs are available depending on current funding. If families who are homeless call the housing access line they will be assessed for shelter or referred to other resources.

 

When can I expect someone to follow-up to my phone message I left on the Housing Access Line?

We will respond to your inquiry within 48 hours of receiving your message.

 

What are the requirements to get into shelter?

First, you must reside in Washtenaw County, MI. For SOS's housing programs you must be an adult (18 years or older) with at least one child in your legal custody that is below the age of 18. Lastly, you must be currently homeless or in a situation where homelessness is imminent.

 

How can I get into shelter?

Homeless families in Washtenaw County will be assessed for shelter by calling the Housing Access Line at (734) 961-1999.

 

How long does it take to enter shelter?

The time frame varies and is based on current availability.

 

How can I get into Transitional Housing or the Housing First program?
